Vehicle Description:
THE VETTE NET is a professional Corvette brokerage network and proud Lifetime Business Member of the National Corvette Museum. We are pleased to present this 1961 Corvette Convertible finished in rare and elegant Jewel Blue — one of the most distinctive colors ever to grace a C1.
Ownership & Provenance
Car was owned by an enthusiast in CA during which the car underwent a systematic, fully documented refurbishment (2014–2015) at Santa Cruz Motorsports Inc. and ORSPORTS INC., totaling over USD 60,000 in documented mechanical work — invoices, estimates, and records included with the sale. The seller estimates approximately USD 200,000 invested in the car to date, covering acquisition plus the complete mechanical and cosmetic program.
Restoration & Mechanicals Powertrain:
At the center of the engine bay sits a GM Performance Parts Ram Jet 350 crate engine — 350 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, fed by GM's port fuel injection system. The look is pure vintage Rochester mechanical-injection nostalgia; the drivability is fully modern: turn the key, cold starts, no fiddling with a carburetor. It's the best of both worlds in a C1. Transmission: 4-speed automatic overdrive — a welcome modern upgrade over the period 2-speed Powerglide. Combined with the Ram Jet EFI, it makes this C1 relaxed at highway speeds and genuinely usable on long drives. Full transmission service documented (Red Line synthetic fluid, Dec 2014). Supporting Cast: The engine bay is detailed and sorted — polished Chevrolet finned valve covers with red plug wires, aluminum radiator with electric fan, Sanden-style A/C compressor (ideal companion to a Vintage Air system), rebuilt alternator and starter, serpentine drive, headers, new wiring harness, and a clean, show-quality presentation throughout. Chassis & Suspension: The invoice file reads like a restoration checklist — steering column disassembly and rack work, steering knuckle, king pin rebuilds, front-end assembly, full brake system service with new lines, front suspension kit and control arms, new fuel tank, pump module, and fuel lines.
Cosmetics & Interior
Freshly refinished in the correct rare Jewel Blue, with a new correct-style light blue interior — vinyl bucket seats, matching dash and steering wheel with chrome horn ring, dark gray carpet, Wonder Bar radio, and factory gauges with tach. The car presents as-new top to bottom. Odometer shows just 2,326 miles — driven and enjoyed, never a trailer queen.

Why This Car
1961 was a landmark year — the first Corvette with the now-iconic "ducktail" rear, exposed chrome trunk surround, and the four round taillights that would define the Corvette for generations. A Jewel Blue example with a sorted EFI drivetrain, fresh cosmetics, and a paper trail this thick is a C1 you can actually drive and enjoy anywhere, anytime — and at the asking price, it represents a fraction of its stated build cost. Seller states that a total of over $200,000 was spent on this car for its aquistion and off-frame mechanical and cosmetic restoration.
