The story on this 1969 Corvette Stingray convertible? Well, it’s one of those clean, honest cars that doesn't require cubic dollars to purchase yet delivers a high-quality pedigree that certainly adds to the ownership experience with a big block 427, a great color combination, and a original equipment Muncie 4-speed transmission.
Even after 45 years, the C3 shape remains one of the most attractive in the entire automotive kingdom. For many, the earliest C3s are the best of the bunch with their chrome bumpers and hidden windshield wipers. Tuxedo Black makes this sleek 'Vette look period perfect, and it's repaint is in great condition. This one has the correct vented big block hood with '427' callouts.
The tan interior and Tuxedo Black paint are a very desirable combination with a few well-chosen options. The interior is completely restored including the leather upgraded seat covers and carpets, which gives it a polished, high-quality look. The original gauges are remarkably clear and bright. An aftermarket AM-FM radio delivers decent sound and the cool fiber-optic lamp monitors are always fascinating for first-time Corvette owners. The new black vinyl folding convertible top stows neatly under the rear deck.
The 427 cubic inch L36 V8 appears to be the original, matching-numbers engine and makes a substantial 390 plus horsepower. The Engine had a professional rebuild in 2011, which included boring of block, new rods installed and a camshaft upgrade. There's also a lot of original componentry that still works and looks great. Long tube headers were replaced with the factory exhaust manifolds so there are no ground clearance issues. The 4-speed transmission makes this big block Vette so much fun to drive. Rally wheels with relatively recent 255/60/15 radials mean the car rides and handles well with a traditional Corvette look. This car was purchased by the seller in 2006, and the frame-on restoration was completed in 2011. Since the restoration was completed it has been driven approximately 2500 miles.
Any Corvette with a 427 is special, and this brilliant ragtop with its matching-numbers engine and 4-speed transmission, is a fun, flashy Corvette with a great pedigree. Call today with any questions about the car.
